Join the Joyful Battle of Lights: Illuminate Hope
The Joyful Battle of Lights is our 5th Annual friendly competition of dazzling light displays, all united by one purpose: to bring light, joy, and critical funds to children and youth in our local foster care community.
In our 10th year as an organization, we’d love for this year’s Battle to be our biggest celebration yet! Worthdays creates opportunities for joy throughout the year—from celebrating birthdays and holidays to meeting otherwise unmet needs for children and youth impacted by foster care. By participating, you harness the magic of your community—neighbors, family, friends, and even strangers—to make a direct impact on a young person’s life. Together, we’re working to bring holiday joy to nearly 300 children and youth this year.
How the Battle Works
This competition is a powerful community fundraiser where the display that raises the most funds wins the competition!
Join the Battle: Homes and businesses sign up to participate in the friendly fundraising competition.
Receive a yard sign: Each participant receives a unique QR code yard sign to proudly display with their lights. In addition, we provide you with custom graphics that can be used to share about the Joyful Battle of Lights on social media too (if desired).
Raise Funds: When a visitor scans your QR code, they are directed to an online platform where they can make a donation. All funds are tracked online, allowing participants to "battle" to see who can raise the most.
Why Participate?
This Battle is about more than competition; it's a profound way to connect with your community and our mission. All funds fuel Worthdays' core mission: to celebrate young people in foster care on important days like their birthdays and meet critical needs that would otherwise go unmet. This support allows us to provide everything from college essentials for youth aging out of care to emergency supplies for families working toward reunification. Beyond the fundraising, our participants find joy in knowing their light display is directly creates hope for children who need it most.
Who Can Participate?
We invite both residents and local businesses to join the fun:
Homes and Light Displays: Compete for the crown with your light masterpiece.
Businesses: You can sign up for a personalized QR code that allows you to participate without needing a physical light display. Display your yard sign by your company's holiday decorations, on your counter, or we can even provide a large car magnet or banner for holiday tour companies!
A little insider info: We’ve found that your light display doesn’t have to be the biggest or brightest to make a big impact in the Joyful Battle of Lights! All it takes is a little enthusiasm, a few lights, and a willingness to rally your community. Because at the end of the day, it’s really about the kids—not the lights.
